Cover Redesign: 'Kindergarten at 60: A Memoir of Teaching in Thailand' by Dian Seidel

This month, Michelle Argyle Park at Melissa Williams Design reimagines the cover of Kindergarten at 60: A Memoir of Teaching in Thailand by Dian Seidel. To submit a book for a free cover redesign, email us at booklifeeditor@booklife.com.

 

Design Note #1: I like the pink on the original cover, but I felt the color was pushing the book into Women’s Fiction. I decided to include pink in the title but represent more popular colors of Thailand.

 

Design Note #2: I decided to style the title text using handwritten, watercolor elements. This helps drive home the experiences

of the author working with younger children.

 

Design Note #3: I like the original cover but wanted to fill some of the empty space. I started by making the title larger so it will be more visible in a thumbnail. 

 

Design Note #4: Moving the author’s name to the top of the book created space to place the awards seals side-by-side at the bottom.
