The dry basics: Born 10-9-58 in Beech Grove IN. Tried 7 colleges till I found my niche in philosophy courses at an IU extension. Worked my way through school in Bloomington, primarily by doing evening janitor work. Worked as programmer for Richard Shiffrin. Dean's lists, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna cum Laude, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology 1984. Moved to San Diego, UCSD, for graduate work with David Rumelhart, the PDP back-propogation modeler. Worked with Donald Norman, George Mandler, Hal Pashler, and even met Sir Francis Crick when he would visit. Awarded a Ph.D. in 1992 in Cognitive Psychology Left academia, moved to the beach, met my wife, and spent a few years decompressing from study. Moved to upstate NY to give Laura some small-town Life. Took advantage of the oak library there to begin reading and studying again. Worked on Mondern Myths manuscript from 2018-2024. Given the innevitable fracturing of our society we have bought a place in Eastern TN and are moving there for the people, music, and lake life.
