The Epistles of Jesus is Bayard’s first novel, one that explores the challenging subject of why there are no extant first-hand writings from Jesus of Nazareth. The book is a thought-provoking thriller tied to current technology, culture, and politics but based in ancient events. It is not a proselytizing work, but rather one for thinkers and those who find themselves curious about the frailties of early Christian history. Given the enormous impact Christianity has had on the development of Western culture, Bayard believes such curiosity is warranted and should be encouraged.
The author has long been challenged by the total lack of any document written by this famous man, where one would expect to see at least something from one of the most important people to have ever lived. What has been written about Jesus was, without exception, composed decades or even centuries after his death, often written by vague characters who have long since faded into the shadowy fog of history. This is disturbingly odd since Jesus’ teaching is perceived by billions to be transformative on a global basis. What has been written about him is fraught with uncertainty, fraud, and fakery, or at best characterized by a lack of clear attribution. Do we really know what he felt and experienced, what he taught, and why?
Bayard’s mind is often occupied by a diverse range of interests and topics beginning with his family and branching out into business, current events, literature, art, religion, and politics. Bayard holds a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Classics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in international business from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
