Bryan Ney has now written two Historical fiction novels- "Calamity Jane: How the Wet Began," and "Absaroka War Chief." The common thread in these stories is that both are stories of the protagonist being thrown into societies wildly different than what they had previously seen. In the first book, fifteen year old Calamity is thrown into a wild west gold rush town run by the bad guys. In the second book, freed slave James Beckwourth is captured by the Crow tribe, and manages to become a leader among them.
