C. A. Logan’s previous writing consists of articles, plays, short stories, and ministerial memoranda. The Irish Within Us is her first novel, published in March 2023 by FriesenPress. She is a member of the Canadian Authors Association.
C. A. Logan grew up in Burlington, Ontario where she was editor of the high school newspaper. She moved to Toronto in the 1980s, working as an administrator for dance and theatre companies and raising her family. Her articles and reviews have been published in the art magazines Random Scan (Hamilton) and Kala (Toronto). Her monologues, including The Cure (2019) and The Bathurst Line (2000) were performed at the Facetious Penguin Inquest (Toronto). She also worked as dramaturge for the Burning Passions Theatre production of Ontario, yours too … performed at the 2002 Mayworks Festival (Toronto).
Her academic studies include Journalism (Carleton University), and History and French Cultural Studies (University of Toronto). She studied short story writing with Sarah Sheard (1995) and playwriting with Carol Bolt (2000) at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). She is a card-carrying Sherlockian through New York’s Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes (ASH) and the Bootmakers of Toronto (M.Bt). Her interests include genealogy, occultism, and theatre.
Logan’s combination of education and experience led to a position in the Arts Branch of the federal Department of Canadian Heritage, from which she retired in 2022. Although Logan lives in Ottawa, Ontario, she is equally at home in Toronto and in Glasgow, Scotland.
