Cynthia Kern OBrien is the author of the A True Story by Granny "debut" picture book series: 

• I Used to be a Fairy…
• The Tooth Fairy and the Baby Elf…
• I Don't Want to Go to Preschool...

Each of these stories are based on true events and almost entirely word for word exchanges. Spinning these tales with her grandchildren for years OBrien finally put pen to paper in 2018 so her grandchildren would not forget.
OBrien found inspiration for her writing in her grandchildren’s worldview, as well as aspiring to teach young readers caring, and kindness for people, and animals of all stripes establishing Pickles House Publications, an independent publishing house named for her adorable Maltese mix, Pickles.
She credits illustrator and close friend Gillen for guiding her through learning the publishing process. “I am so thankful for the kindness of Rosemarie, who has stayed by my side all the way,” she says. “It is her illustrations that bring these stories to life!”
