Dave is an author, artist, and musician who traveled extensively in West Africa over a 15 year period. His first book, Djoliba Crossing (2013), chronicles his experiences working as an ethnomusicologist in remote villages in the upper Niger River valley of Guinea. His second book, Drawing on Culture (2019), is an illustrated ethnography of the Malinké people of Guinea, and features over 30 illustrations done by the author on location in a small village along the Niger. His forthcoming book, Finding the Source, is a riveting personal memoir that reads like an adventure novel.
