I grew up as a missionary kid in Angola, Africa. We lived in Luanda, the capitol city, for a few years. Later we lived in a semi-wild area of northern Angola for a couple years. We frequently saw herds of African buffaloes grazing on hillsides. We hunted buffalo occasionally to supply meat for family and neighbors. We lived in a mud and stick house without electric power or running water. We saw other primitive areas when our family drove coast-to-coast across Africa in 1948 on poorly charted dirt or gravel roads.
I returned to the USA as a teenager and became a physician. I worked and taught in Africa and the United States at various times in my career. In the process, I rediscovered the truth that we all have inner healing power that is amazingly effective if we don’t undermine it with unhealthy habits. Because of this, I was strongly motivated to write and teach about the value of healthy lifestyles. Since retiring from medical practice, I have written half a dozen books on healthy living themes.
I wanted to share what I learned about life and health with others.
