Edward Hochsmann is a retired U. S. Coast Guard search and rescue and law enforcement professional. The veteran mariner, aviator, college professor, and defense analyst has added “author” to his list of experiences. Ed likes reading, police procedurals, contemporary music on the road, and classical music in the office. After a career traveling from Australia in the west to Italy and Germany in the east, Ed has settled into a quiet life in the Florida Panhandle to focus on writing (and not shoveling snow!)
Ed has three works published right now: Vis Major, a pure soft sci-fi novelette, and Engage at Dawn: First Contact, technically a sci-fi novel, but more accurately a Military Thriller with soft sci-fi and New Adult elements. These two are complementary works looking at an incident of an extraterrestrial landing on Earth, in Vis Major from the aliens' perspective and Engage at Dawn: First Contact from the humans'. Both are available on Amazon Kindle, and the novel is available in paperback at most retailers.
Ed's second novel in the Engage at Dawn series was launched in May 2021. This one continues the story of young Coast Guard officer Ben Wyporek and his crew as they deal with a new alien threat and he grows closer to beautiful analyst Victoria Carpenter he met in the first novel.
