Irene Holmes has been involved in several different careers during her life. Apart from being a wife and mother, she has been an artist, a professional potter and an International Educator and recruiter. She completed her education training and degree in Western Australia and then taught there for many years before teaching in the international arena. As a result, she has lived and worked in seven different countries. Her last two international postings were as Primary Principals in the Middle East. She currently lives in a remote New South Wales town and is making new friends, contributing in a local school and enjoying this new adventure with her second husband, Tim. She is always up for more adventures in the future.

As most will know, I am not one for posting much on social media but today I wanted to share some exciting news with you.

My second book, 'REFLECTIONS' is now available and is being well received.
It is another murder mystery .. with a name like HOLMES what else would I write?Right?

This mystery does not follow any sort of 'formula', you know like .. boy meets girl and fancies her, then he doesn't and after emotional ups and downs they eventually live happily ever after. Neither does it follow the formula of a detective running around collecting clues that no one else has seen then gathers all the suspects together at the end for the big reveal. Not my sort of story.
This story takes the reader on a journey where they can see that people are different and that sometimes experiences from earlier in their life can influence decisions,choices and actions later in life and those actions can shock even themselves. The story leads the reader along some scary pathways. The killer seems to be a reasonable,rational person for most of the story but then we witness the unravelling of that person's reality.

We are taken to England in 1926, between the two world wars when England, Europe and indeed the world was trying to rebuild themselves after the horrors and create a better future. It was a time when good manners were a social expectation and and respect was returned when offered and life had a gentler pace than the maddness we are now being driven towards.

The book has been described as 'intriguing, surprising and engaging' and 'a well written drama',the characters as 'multi-layered,interconnected and intelligent'.

A murder was committed but it seems as though this death was of natural causes. Only two people know that this is not the case, that is the killer and the unseen witness.

We follow several characters through their lives and their impacts upon each other. The story leaves questions for the reader and a sense of 'what will happen now?' to the killer?? It is a story with twists and unexpected turns and presents believable 'people' who are faced with daunting challenges.
