Jennifer Kasman was born in Washington, D.C. in 1980 and grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She received a B.A. in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School, graduating from law school cum laude. She is a published legal writer, small business owner, and recipient of numerous legal accolades.
Her passion for studying civil rights, gender, religion, and foreign policy formed early and remains strong to this day. As early as first grade, she gathered several classmates together on the playground to debate what the definition of a hero was and what heroes looked like, reporting her unsolicited findings to the first-grade teacher after recess.
She has drawn on her psychologically rich life experiences, and the struggles she has intimately witnessed others endure, in a wide range of complex places such as religious environments, private schools, law firms, political parties, and families to write Anna & The American Puzzle. Her hope is that the book will contribute to the many important conversations about income inequality, race, gender, religion, and education that are taking place across the United States.
When she is not working or spending time with her beloved family, Jennifer enjoys dancing, sunny beach days, skiing, theater, fitness classes, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Sunday dinner, and exceptional coffee in her chosen hometown, New York City.
