Lee Woodman, for nearly four decades, has served the art world and literary arts community as a museum pioneer, educator, business woman, and writer. From being an award-winning public radio producer at the Library of Congress, and an award-winning multimedia producer at the Smithsonian Institution, to her philanthropy and advocacy for the arts, and her writing of award-winning poetry books, Woodman has used the power of words and images to educate and enlighten others.
Her leadership roles included Manager of Multimedia and Executive Producer at the Smithsonian Institution, where she partnered with Creative Artists Agency to collaborate with top Hollywood companies, including Columbia Pictures, Showtime, and DreamWorks.
She also served as Senior Advisor to the Director of the National Museum of American History, and as President of Lee Woodman Media, Inc. She helped launch K-12, Inc., an online education company that trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
Her first full poetry collection, Mindscapes, was published by Poets’ Choice Publishing in 2020, and Homescapes by Finishing Line Press the same year. Kelsay Books published Lifescapes in June 2021. Artscapes was published in February, 2022 by Shanti Arts Publishing. A Pushcart nominee, her poems have appeared in Tiferet Journal, Grey Sparrow Journal, The Ekphrastic Review, vox poetica, The New Guard Review, The Concord Monitor, Naugatuck River Review, Hill Rag, and Broadkill Review.
She has received numerous writing awards, including: the 2020 William Meredith Prize for Poetry and the 2021 Atlantic Review International Poetry Contest MERIT AWARD. She was a Pushcart Nominee in 2018 for “City Square” in The New Guard. Her radio and TV awards and honors as a writer/producer include: five CINEs, two NY International Film Blue Ribbons, three Gracies from American Women in Radio and Television, Columbus Chris Award, CINDY Award, USA Today Hotpick Website, and Yahoo Outstanding Website.
She earned her M.A. in Art Education from University of Hartford. She received her B.A. in Art Studio and History from Colby College.
