Although she was born in the United States, Lisa Liljeberg
considers herself a “citizen of the world.” She has spent more
than 35 years living outside the continental US. She’s lived
in five countries, speaks five languages, and believes that if
everyone spent six months living in another country, we
would be a lot closer to world peace.
Lisa’s first midlife crisis was at age 43, when she decided
to go back to school to study interior design in Italy, which
she paid for by guiding biking and hiking trips all over the
planet (and continues to do so today, with her Wild Thing
Expeditions).
Her second midlife crisis came at age 57. This time it
took more than three years of self-reflection (not to mention
more than a little self-doubt!), meditation, personal growth
studies, myriad courses in self-discovery/Higher Calling/
Life Purpose before finally deciding to become a Certified
Professional Coach.
Only then did she finally give herself permission to
simply be herself (and not what everyone else wanted her
to be).
That’s when she realized that she had achieved
what many only dream of:
-She had lived life by her rules (not her parents’ or anyone
else’s),
-She had followed her heart, and
-She had done what made her happy.
She is still living the life of her dreams in Italy with
Helena, her wife of 39 years.
And she loves nothing more than to inspire people to go
after their dreams, no matter how wild they seem!
