Mark Edmonds was born in Melbourne Australia during tough economic times. His family was isolated because of its unpopular political views. But he deliberately broke out of his family’s cult-like and rebellious environment to live a normal life in the wider world.
He worked as a taxi driver in Melbourne and as a rookie journalist on a small left-wing newspaper. He was a photographer, bookshop owner, and community radio breakfast program presenter. He ultimately achieved his dream career as a mechanical design engineer, becoming a high-flying engineering project manager. He earned the name “Hitman” for protecting his employer’s financial interests against the manipulations of a bullying construction site manager.
In his memoir, ‘They Called Me A Hitman’ he wrote “You can never run away from your past, but it doesn’t hurt to get a good start.” An excerpt from the book reads: I consciously chose to not live as a rebel on the fringes of our society but to get out into the real world and mix it with the best and the worst. But I retained some of my rebelliousness. I usually gave as well as I received, without worrying too much about the consequences.
He lives close to his family in a middle-ring suburb north west of Melbourne.
