I’m the author of The Gift is to the Giver (Keppie Usage, 2022), a collection of essays and stories about the personal consequences of trying to be a good influence on others. The book includes work first published in The New York Times, The Sun, and Lit Hub, and anthologized by Norton and the Best American series, and will appeal to fans of David Sedaris, public radio, and the Mets.
Prior to full-time authorship, I dedicated 20 years to teaching public school with the LA Unified. Before that, I served as an editor with America Online, a commentator on public radio’s Marketplace, and a regular at the Austin Chronicle softball game.
Currently, I am on a quest to play tennis on every free public tennis court in Los Angeles.
