Matthew Minson, MD www.writerminson.com is an award-winning, best-selling author and screenwriter whose work has been published/recognized by Faulkner-Wisdom, Writer’s Digest, Goldberg, O'Neill, BIBA, and the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship. His novel Sun City, A Hilariously Addictive Story of Rebellion won the 2022 BIBA Award for Humor, and was slected for review by Publisher's Weekly. He has published numerous short stories, most notably one that he adapted and cowrote as the award-winning short film New Soul, starring Larry Miller. It received the Encore Award at Cinequest and reviewed at LA Shorts in 2015. His directorial debut, You Have Arrived, has garnered numerous placements, showings and award nominations on the festival circuit.

An internationally recognized Public Health expert, Dr. Minson has been engaged in the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic providing consultation as a Public Health and Medical Advisor to several agencies in the United States Government, WHO special programs, and has supported Lloyd’s as a special consultant. A former local, state and Federal health official, he has been recognized by special commendation from the Secretariat, USDHHS for leading the creation of the National Health Security Strategy and served as liaison to the United States Agency for International Development and Deputy Coordinator for the U.S. health and medical humanitarian response to the Haiti Earthquake Response.
He is an appointee to the National Fire Protection Association, National Academy of Medicine special forum, and as a medical director for FEMA/USAR he has deployed to a number of crises including: the World Trade Center, the Columbia Space Shuttle Recovery, and several hurricanes, including Katrina and Rita, the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Crisis, Super Storm Sandy, the West, Texas Explosion, and much more.
His Prepare To Defend Yourself series of healthcare and social advocacy books published by Texas A&M University press has received numerous awards including a “Best Of” selection by Library Journal and an editor’s Pulitzer submission for his book on aging.He has appeared on C-Span, CNN, NPR, CBS and PBS.
