Dr. Paul G. C. Hector has worked in the international intergovernmental sector for over 2 decades. During this time, he has supported project initiatives and policy actions in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. He has advised governments and institutions, conducted research, and has been involved in the design and implementation of policies, strategies, and action plans focused on access to information and knowledge for development.
Paul holds multiple master's (Civil Engineering, Operations Research) and doctoral degrees (Management Science, Knowledge and Innovation Management). He is an alumnus of the J. William Fulbright Fellowship and the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership programs. His research interests include knowledge management, knowledge-based development, design, entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, and circular economy.
Paul is also a certified coach and mentor. Since 2016, he has been an annual volunteer mentor for students at his alma mater, the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle and since 2022 also at the University of the West Indies (Mona). Through UW’s Huskys@Work program, and the UWI Mona Mentorship Programme Paul has been guiding students seeking careers in international development, knowledge-based development the UN, and intergovernmental sectors. He has also served as an in-house mentor in a UN Organization. Previously he was actively involved in the Cub Scouts of America, where he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Paul and his family support a number of Library and reading projects and awards that encourage youth involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
