I am a Taiwanese-Canadian physician in North Vancouver, British Columbia, on the traditional lands of the Tsleil-Waututh. For the last seven years, I have worked in rural and remote communities across northern Canada, from Labrador to Northwest Territories to BC, and most recently with the Heiltsuk people on the Central Coast of BC. I am an immigrant from Taiwan, raised by a single mother of three, but have called the Pacific Northwest home for most of my life.   I have a BSc from the University of British Columbia (double major Microbiology and Immunology, and International Relations), and an MD.

The idea for this novel was borne from a desire to tell a unique story of adventure that incorporates my child and dogs to create a parallel magical world from which to view the one we live in. It draws on my background in the sciences, arts, as well as my love of storytelling and Greek mythology.
