A Brooklyn Saga
As our protagonist, Angelina Carpello views life from her stoop on Conselyea Avenue in Williamsburg Brooklyn (1950-60-70s), elements of Mob mentality, Catholic Church vagaries, and Old-World Italian culture mold her into a young woman with more questions than answers about her survival. When a Chinese farm boy with a tragic past, Wengchan Liang, now grown and a runner/hitman for the Mafia, meets her, their collision course not only rescues her from a life-threatening, contentious situation but also discovers for him a long-sought redemption!

"To read "A Brooklyn Saga...." is to travel back in time to the real Brooklyn. New Yorkers, you don't know Williamsburg until you've read Angiolillo's and Kule's work! The characters are colorful and nuanced, and details about the neighborhood and the locals who reside in it are so visceral that you can practically taste Caterina's gravy and feel the front steps of her family's stoop under your feet. Angie adds innocence and complexity to the story and provides a compelling and somewhat classic coming-of-age tale set against a gritty city. A joy to read!"
