Jackson Vane's story begins in book 1 of The Journey Series, A Journey Spared.
Finding a new path can be difficult when the darkness threatens to swallow you. When Jackson Vane and his three best friends joined the U.S. Marines after high school, he had big dreams. Not only did the service take him far away from his father and the city he refused to call home, it also gave him endless opportunities to see the world. But he never dreamed that eight years would be all he'd get. Now, he's being shipped back to Richmond, Virginia with nothing to his name but shattered dreams, a useless medal, two broken legs, and a devastated heart. While his injuries hold him captive in his childhood home, Jackson has a new war to fight. He must come to terms with survivor's guilt, figure out who he is, and most daunting of all, learn how to heal.
Jackon's story continues in A Journey to Love (book 2) and concludes in A Journey Home (book 3).
Book One in The Journey Series is a contemporary fiction story filled with all the emotions. Meet Jackson Vane, an injured and recovering Marine. His story of transitioning to civilian life is heartbreaking and hopeful as he tries to find his purpose--and the answer to why his life was spared when so many others didn't make it home from war.
Trying to figure out his new life out of uniform, Jackson is presented with ghosts from his past, daily struggles, and an uncertain future. I loved how he didn't settle for anything less or easy, he was willing to put in the time and work building a life worth living--a huge struggle for a guy who lost his tree best buddies to war.
Alexandra Grace captures her readers' attention along with their heart through her unique approach to storytelling. Jackson is a true hero worth rooting for, an instand book boyfriend.
