Adventures of the Moment: The Mystery Tour by Golden November starts with a mystery trip won by Dave and paid for by Flower Rose, where passengers engage in plenty of conversations and activities. It only goes up from there. Rodney expresses frustrations over acting pay, leading to confrontations with Heather. Tour guide Claire organizes team-building games and challenges. As the trip progresses, the characters bond through shared experiences like a competition for vintage wine, complete with vehicles and map-reading. G and JBT undertake a rescue during a hurricane. There are gas station landings, picnic lunches, poolside chats, a waterfall race, an encounter with a bear, and a TV show party where Rodney shows off his new superhero abilities as Jump It Man, and everything that you can and cannot possibly think of happening in between.
"Evairyone, can ai 'ave your attenshe-on?” There's no need to ask this when it's a Golden November book, but Adventures of the Moment is unique for more than just the usual reasons. I think out of all the books that I have read in this series, this feels like the first time that the storyline running through was the same for everyone. Yes, there are different characters and scenes, but most November tales are not connected in quite such a linear way, and around the same central storyline. I really enjoyed it and had the bonus of meeting some new characters. The scene that had me laughing the loudest is one in which JBT inquires about a woman's relationship status, inviting her outside when she tells him she's been divorced for four months. Patience has never been a JBT quality. November's intelligent wit is on full display, which is always beneficial when the lines are acted out, and we had a fantastic time as a family playing with the book's crossover chaos. Perfection.
