Adventures of the Moment: The Writer's Collector's Edition

Adult; General Fiction (including literary and historical); (Market)

Gannon meets Electra unexpectedly and by chance. When their conversation continues for hours-upon-hours, Gannon asks Electra to go on a mystery trip vacation he had purchased two tickets for previously. Electra and Gannon are about to go on an adventure of the moment.

Author Golden November had authored the novel Adventure of the Moment without knowing anything about who the characters are or what the storyline will be. The author wrote the novel live as each scene was playing out in real-time. The story begins with Gannon walking through an airport and talking on the phone to his friend. The author had no clue who Gannon was and what he was speaking about on the phone. Suddenly, the idea of Gannon buying a last-minute mystery trip enters the story. As Gannon sits at the gate, the idea of another character named Electra enters into the storyline. Gannon needed to meet Electra for this unknown story to take off. A spontaneous conversation between Gannon and Electra begins at the airport gate. Their conversation starts to build and design the pages in the novel as this story begins to shape and unfold. At no point in this story did the author know what would happen next. It was a last-second decision by Golden November to write what happened next during each predicament in the scenes. One example of the author not knowing what the story is about while writing it is when A Bear pops out of nowhere. November thought it would be funny to have a bear show up in the scene. Each of the scenes that has a surprise twist gives the showcase of the author making last-second decisions about what will transpire. Golden November authored this story while vicariously taking a backseat on the mystery tour as an observer of each scene and then transferring his acting energy into each character as they figure out what to do at the moment.

Adventures of the Moment: The Writer's Collector's Edition carries on the unique storytelling narrative style by Golden November. It is Gannon’s birthday, and he is supposed to be at a celebratory party in his honor, but instead, he is at the airport going on a mystery trip. His girlfriend Amber is supposed to be here, but since they broke up, Gannon is alone. With a spare ticket and not much time left, Gannon boards the plane and meets Electra. They talk, a bond is formed, and the two decide to go on the mystery trip together. However, neither of them is prepared for what this mystery trip to Synonymville will entail for them.

This review is going to be a little biased because I love Golden November. His writing style is unique, no-nonsense, and to the point. His novels are the perfect example of “sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.” Much like his other novels in Milestoneville, there are no descriptions, only dialogues and a singular picture on top of the dialogues to show where the characters are and what they are doing. It is truly astonishing how Golden November can create whole character portraits with just dialogues. Each character has a distinct style of how they speak and emote. Somehow, Golden November can convey the intentions, emotions, and directives behind each action of a character with simple dialogues. As always, the setting is perfect, the characters are incredible, and the dry humor is enough to keep you in a calm and happy mood all day long.
