Black Suns

In Burlington Vermont, 40-year-old Sonny Hillshire is visiting his wife’s grave on a rainy night of April 9, 2040, which is also the day that his rent is due. Living in an apartment under the name of Miriam Flordia as well as taking Akeem and Kira under his wing, Sonny tries making a living in the world as he wants to let go of his terrible past as a former Black Sun member. Whilst doing so, he meets two former Black Sun members named Eiji and Advika. However, he is also being hunted by a mysterious woman who goes by the name “Azalea”, and has managed to escape her wrath over the years.
As he breathes a sigh of relief to live for the next day, tax day looms closer. A local councilman is planning to use taxpayer money to help build the homeless new houses, which Sonny is skeptical about. At the same time, he gets fired from his job, but meets Advika, another former Black Sun member. When tax day comes, the homeless don’t receive it, and a million dollars of taxpayer money is missing. When the councilman is found out, it leads to a further shadier agenda, where a person in the shadows wants both Sonny and Eiji dead as well as having plans for Vermont.
The next day is a shopping day, which Sonny and Akeem loathe as it isn’t for them but are forced to by Miriam Flordia. Whilst shopping, Sonny is unaware of two suited men spying on him. As a shoplifter is stopped by Advika, the suited men relay a message to their boss, allowing them to keep tabs on Sonny as he, Akeem and Kira go out to dinner at night. However, more suited men appear to watch him and kidnap him. When the White Moons are called to resolve the situation, Sonny feels that it’s his duty to save people, although he doesn’t want to be called a “hero” for it.
When word of Sonny’s actions reaches the boss of the henchmen, the boss employs a spy to gather more information to hurt Sonny psychologically, which is those closest to him. At the same time, the boss plans to wreck Vermont by robbing and replacing the money with counterfeits. When Miss Flordia is kidnapped, Sonny brings Eiji and Advika along to stop the madman responsible and get her back, whilst said madman is making an escape to Canada. Unfortunately, their escape is cut short by a mysterious woman covered in flames.
As Sonny, Eiji and Advika, along with a White Moons chief officer take down the madman, they are left with two surprises, with one of them having to get it resolved by the government by a private court, and the other being a plan the madman had already started from the very beginning. The stakes raised even further for Vermont when explosions targeted rich-owned establishments, with innocent civilians in the casualties. It gets even more personal for Sonny when Akeem and Kira are kidnapped, which worries him not for his own safety, but everyone else’s.
Whilst the bombings were happening, Sonny felt the need to take down the mastermind and get Akeem and Kira back at all costs - in hope that nothing happened to them. If he finds out that they were killed, he fears the inevitable will happen if he loses it. He has to take the mastermind down in order to save Vermont, his two associates and his sanity, and he can do so as long as his two other friends are there to lend him a helping hand.
