A fierce warrior arises, one with white hair unlike all of the others. With abilities to foreshadow opponent's strikes, she is unstoppable..
Lann Dàn – Blades of Destiny by James Raquepau
Hakon Skadi is a fierce warrior who has arrived from the land of Norvergr and has come to conquer more land for his people to live. While raping and pillaging the land of Erin he bore several bastard children, three of note. The premonition by his seer has warned him of one in particular named "The Destroyer", whose sole mission is to defeat him in battle and end his reign. Breanna Ban Morna has remarkable skills as a warrior, with the use of her power known as the "void" she can predict the moves of her challengers before they happen. Using her innate ability sees Breanna move up the ranks to become the Red Branch Champion. Her sole goal is to protect and serve her close friend Eoin the Dun Arrogh's Chief. Unbeknownst to Breanna there is far more to her story than she can fathom. Legendary gods and goddesses both from the light and dark of years past have a larger plan for her. Will she be able to endure the challenges that are set forth, including the very fabric of her identity?
A truly intriguing fantasy tale written by author James Raquepau. Breanna the main protagonist is written beautifully, with just enough zest and vulnerability that makes her extremely relatable to the reader. I often thought of Clash of the Titans while reading this novel, where the Gods themselves interacted with the main characters to help in their preferred outcomes. It brought a sense of seriousness and alluring mysticism that fascinated me throughout my time in the land of Erin. Another compelling character was that of Hakon, the "Darth Vader" of the story. It's not often I feel any type of compassion for a man pegged as a treacherous vanquisher but on more than one occasion I had an understanding of his need to expand so his people could prosper.
As I bend the knee to thee of all future readers I can with all that is holy recommend this amazing story. Specifically, if you love a female heroine, I would consider this a no-brainer. Furthermore, Mr. Raquepau does a fantastic job of describing a wonderful backdrop. The pages flowed with cascading waves as if written sitting next to a frigid snowcapped fjord. Therefore I am giving this 4 out of 5 stars ⭐, great fantasy reading!
