SUSPENSEFUL - PSYCHOLOGICAL
It's the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. After months of fear, financial uncertainties, and lockdown, marriages have cracked foundations. The Sanctuary app appears in the market offering discreet lunch-break encounters among married individuals chasing either the lustful sex they no longer find at home, or a jolt of risk and adventure to ignite their spirits. An ambitious psychiatrist sees an opportunity to gain fame by joining an old enemy to conduct a clandestine study of the app. Using herself as bait, the experiment will generate wonders and tragedy.

I was curious about the app part but expected that at some point, I would face a love story similar to most that involve two strangers initially meeting just for sex. I was wrong. Throw all your theories out the window. This book is not predictable at all and that ending came out of nowhere and in such a delectable way. Just sit back and enjoy the ride!

Great characterization of three intriguing women. The author entangles them in a modern plot with the extremes of the pandemic desperately pulling and influencing their desires and needs. Each scene moved me to guess, WHAT'S NEXT? I was never even close to the unsuspecting sting! A lot of suspense also loses touch with what makes characters real, but I felt as though I could reach out and touch Morgan especially, because she's so real. I highly recommend LUNCH BREAK!

Did the pandemic change our view on love and human connections? Is being together with another human being a pleasure or a danger? If you are unhappy in your relationships, would connections on dating app be of immediate help?
This thrilling detective love story touched on a lot of important questions of the present time. It was very interesting to read about times you have just experienced yourself and about how people respond to isolation!
I always like to read books describing New York scenes with streets I know so well. I have probably seen the heroes of this story in the West Village or Central Park.
This book is a great immersive reading with wonderful descriptions of modern relationships. Meeting strangers can be exciting and dangerous at the same time!

Loved the characters & unpredictable situations!
There aren't many novels addressing the domestic problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and I found this book original and thought-provoking. Most married people know how hard it was to work from home while helping our kids study. Add the fear of this unknown disease and the financial concerns and it's a recipe for disaster. I enjoyed reading about the dysfunctions discussed in Lunch Break, from the mere hope of feeling alive through a small adventure, to the unethical ambitions and insane obsessions. Marvelous characters and unpredictable situations. Very entertaining. I highly recommend it!
