This is the golden era for Egypt. It is at the pinnacle of its existence. It struggles to protect its borders and yet fights for expansion. Rameses is to the North with Egypt’s army of twenty-two thousand three hundred troops in 1274 BC to conquer part of the Hittite empire. He has a temple under construction in Thebes. It is to be the greatest accomplishment of his reign to date. There are to be two eighty feet tall, eight feet in diameter flawless pure white marble pillars at the entryway into this temple. It took over two years of hard labor working day and night to bust loose these flawless stones from the earth. These stones are the crowning feature of the new temple. Rameses will take no excuses for these pillars not to be ready to put in place at the opening ceremony of the temple. There will be every one of importance within an area over a thousand miles or more away to witness the setting of these stones that complete the construction of the temple. Not only will it complete the temple it will mark the day the pharaoh transforms from king to a living god. No less than a hundred thousand people will be present to witness the event. The stones must be there and ready. There will be a celebration to end all celebrations.
