An invisible strangler is haunting the streets of Los Angeles. It is 1932, six months before the Summer Olympics, and men are falling dead of no apparent cause, their necks broken. A former fighter pilot is drawn into a terrorist plot aimed not simply at the city, but the entire nation. But when he is gunned down by the terrorists, can a small band of his friends finish his work, even when it leads them to one of the last unexplored places on Earth, from which few return?
