The Dragon's Light
Carina Scott, author
The honorable dragon, Kindle, wants for nothing than to listen to fairy gossip and find a nice cave where he can laze his days away. When his father meets an untimely end by an evil unicorn, Kindle takes over his father’s cave and inherits all the gold that comes with it. He is also gifted with a female sacrifice every year.
Not having a taste for human flesh Kindle discards the women to a neighboring island until one year he receives a feisty, golden haired beauty named Lyra. Kindle is immediately smitten and refuses to send her away. Soon their unique friendship becomes an unbreakable bond. Her sunny attitude and spirited sass create emotions within Kindle that he doesn’t understand.
Before he can figure out his strange feelings for her, his father’s killer resurfaces and curses Kindle to human form. Kindle and Lyra manage to escape to the safety of the island where Kindle learns the dark secrets of his father’s past. The more he uncovers the more he realizes there’s two sides to every story and perhaps his father wasn’t the innocent he once believed.
When he finds holes in his own back story, Kindle relies of the townsfolk to help him piece his past together.
Now living as a human he’s just trying to make sense in a nonsensical world while:
•Uncovering the secrets of his origins.
•Finding a way to return to his true form
•Preventing Lyra from marrying long enough to figure out his own feelings
•Trying to learn the human world without killing anyone, himself included
•And plotting the eventual demise of that damn unicorn.
