A young run-away searching for stability constructs a life of adventure, Not one to settle for the mundane or societal norms, she attempts to set her own path by calculated progressions or just sheer luck. The story follows her through over 13 different homes and several different jobs showing how all the different skills needed for various career paths come together in an unusual government job. This is about a young female who throws away a middle-class life to find ‘adventure’ with the ‘working class’, starting from the beginning – she felt that if one is to become a leader, one must learn and understand the employees in the lower ranks. In other words, start in the mail room or as a janitor to learn the workings of a building – these concepts are not learned in books but in ‘hands-on’ experience. It took longer than expected to get into management due to the detours taken. She persisted through a man’s world with camaraderie and a positive outlook on people and life.
